    If you put two tapped holes immediately adjacent and 180 degrees apart from the mounting holes for the platten to back up the belt you don't need the welded on bosses and can adjust the platten height and side to side alignment with the roller faces at both mounting points by screwing set screws in and out. The center line through each pair of jack screw holes should be 90 degrees to the center line for the mounting holes. 1/4 or 5/16 set screws would be sufficient.

    UPDATE: I do not recommend building this. I have stopped using mine. It works ok for parts like those shown in the video, but parts with larger radiuses chatter because they're not properly supported. I've had a few scary incidents that have led me to believe this attachment is not safe, including one incident where a chattering workpiece climbed its way off of the pin (yeah, I don't understand how that happens either). When using it in horizontal mode, there's a risk of the part spinning and cutting your hand or pulling your hand into the belt. Since the attachment can't be adjusted left/right or up/down, it also quickly wears out of the center of the belt. To get the same functionality without the downsides, try simply using a block of wood with a hole that matches the hole in the workpiece, and pivot the workpiece around a simple cylindrical pin stuck into the block (you can just use the drill bit that you drilled the hole with, although there is some risk of breakage). Put the hole as far back from the edge of the block as your desired radius will allow, so the workpiece is fully supported. Then simply clamp the block to your fixed table, and advance it toward the belt by tapping it with a mallet. It's not as flashy and cool as the jig in this video, but it works better. I'm hoping to release plans for an improved version of the radius jig in the future. It will likely be part of the surface grinding attachment, which I hope to unveil by the end of 2024.

    I am curious as to why you didn't just trim 1/2 mm off the bottom projection on each side. This would appear to have negligible impact on the drawer projections and the trimmed drawer bottoms would remain compatible with the prior frames. It would appear to take only minutes to run the drawers through the table saw trimming each side. The overall drawer width would remain unchanged so that the drawers would remain centered in the opening. Am I missing something about that solution?

  • @jacobl.lepkoff2178
    @jacobl.lepkoff2178 7 дней назад

    You could probably use a vise for the pressing step as long as you made sure it pressed on the form insert to avoid crushing the walls. Without having to apply the force yourself, as with the press, the increased time to dissipate the heat wouldn't matter. I imagine you could leave the box in the press while you cut out the next box. That would mean sequecnal production rather than batching. So more workspace required and potentially a loss in efficiency. If you had to forms then you could still batch. Long and short perhaps 🤷‍♂️

    ¿How much would the cost of making one of these roughly be?

  • @Jizzlewobbwtfcus
    @Jizzlewobbwtfcus 8 дней назад

    YES!!! The question is, is the circumference of the brass pieces measured along the outside or the inside? Might sound like a stupid question to some but I have bought things which didn't fit properly because the measurements were based on a side I was not needing.

    There is a much easier way to weld this diy square tube! Here a instruction on how i did it and it was so simple while holding tight toleranzes( i made it with the metric plans): Take the 40mm squarebar as normal and clamp one of two 50mm with flatbar onto the side of the squarebare with two clamps (tight them to max). Then clamp down on of the 40mm flatbar and weld it into an L shape( also clamp it tight). Then lose the clamps and look to the angle and make it 90⁰ to another(probably warped). After that clamp the L shape piece onto the square bar again and put the other 40mm flatbar to the other side of the 50mm flatbar(It should look like a U shape) [PUT SHIMS BETWEEN THE L SHAPE PIECE AND SECOND 40MM FLATBAR TO CREATE A SMALL GAP FOR CLEARENCE, i used 2-3 soda can shims and one paper folded once] After you have weld the u shape you can take it off of the squarebar and make it square again. Then you clamp it down one the squarebar again and put the second 50mm flatbar onto the U-Shape piece and put shims under it( again 2-3 soda can shims and a folded pice of paper two layers thick) you only have to clamp it slightly at the last part or it will be get stuck a one point. All other weld can be clamped very hard. The upside is you can weld it solid and warping will not effect it activly. And you will not spend more time then in the "Normal" way. I probably will make a video and show it. I am sorry for my writing, it not my best😂 for any quastions please comment under this comment.

    Over the 7 years since the the idea was shared I had the idea of three wheels being better. Now I’ve made a list of pros/cons. Tipping a tiny amount on a relatively smooth floor doesn’t seem like a priority. Wide enough three wheel is stable but four wheels rescues the directions it can tip by a great amount. Seems like a toss up and I’ll likely end up making both.

    Thanks for your effort and these 3 good videos. You are working precise, clean, and you know what are building and how. I enjoyed your work. You have build a work of art however it did not functioned as you expected. I have no knowledge in aerodynamik but I guess if you use a less heavy motor, it will function better because I think it is as heavy that it does not allow dust to fall because of its little weight. You need a gigantic twister (part 1) for such powerful motor. I hope my opinion be a help. Thanks

    I would not recommend using a long bolt because weld spatter in the threads could damage the nut upon removal and cutting the nut out could be difficult. Also, I would use flanged nuts so that the fabricated tool can be made from a box end wrench.
